Sciatica Treatment in Chicago
Sciatica treatment in Chicago for pain, tingling or numbness that runs from the low back or buttock down the leg. At True Precision Rehab in River North, Dr. Parth Sharma, DC works out what is irritating the sciatic nerve, whether it is a disc, a stiff joint or a tight muscle, and treats that cause.
When sciatica treatment can help
Sciatica is a symptom, not a diagnosis. It means the sciatic nerve is irritated somewhere along its path. People most often come to us with:
-
Pain in the buttock or back of the thigh, often on one side
-
A burning, electric or pins-and-needles feeling down the leg
-
Pain that grows after long sitting or driving
-
Pain when bending forward, coughing or sneezing
-
Leg numbness or heaviness while walking
-
Pain that wakes you at night or makes it hard to get comfortable
Go to the ER right away if you lose control of your bladder or bowels, feel numb in the groin or inner thighs, or notice a leg quickly getting weaker. Get urgent care first for leg pain after a crash or fall, with a fever, or with a swollen, red, warm calf.
How sciatica treatment works
The sciatic nerve is the thickest nerve in the body. It starts in the low back, passes deep behind the hip and runs down the back of the leg. A disc, a stiff low back joint or a tight buttock muscle can squeeze or irritate it along the way. Leg pain tells us the nerve is unhappy, but not where the trouble starts. We use movement and nerve tests to find the source, then treat there instead of chasing the leg.
Our sciatica treatment process
-
Assessment first. We test your spine, hips and nerve response to find where the nerve is being irritated.
-
Take the pressure off. Adjustments for stiff joints, with soft tissue work or dry needling for tight low back and glute muscles.
-
Calm the nerve. Stimpod, which we use for nerve pain, when your exam shows it fits.
-
Move without flare-ups. Exercise and movement habits that keep the nerve moving freely.
We check your leg symptoms at every visit and adjust the plan to match.

Cost of sciatica treatment in Chicago
We don't post one flat price, because the cost depends on a few things:
-
What is causing the nerve irritation and how long it has been going on
-
Which tools your plan includes, such as adjustments, dry needling or Stimpod
-
Whether you book single visits or one of our 8- or 12-week programs
-
What your insurance plan covers for the visit
Call (773) 906-4280 and we will give you a clear number before you book.
Sciatica questions
Is sciatica the same as back pain?
Not quite. Back pain stays in the back. Sciatica sends pain, tingling or numbness along the leg. Many people have both, and the two often share the same cause.
Should I stay in bed with sciatica?
Long bed rest usually does not help. A short rest during a flare is fine, then gentle walking is often better. We will show you positions that ease pressure and movements to avoid.
How long does sciatica last?
It differs by cause. Some flares settle within weeks, while others last longer. We can't promise a timeline, but we will track your leg symptoms at each visit and adjust the plan.
