Dry Needling Therapy Chicago

Dry needling in Chicago for tight, painful muscles that keep coming back. At True Precision Rehab in River North, Dr. Parth Sharma, DC uses thin, sterile needles to release trigger points in the neck, upper traps, low back, hips and legs. It is one tool inside a full plan, paired with adjustments and exercise so the relief lasts.

When dry needling can help

Dry needling is worth a look when a muscle stays tight and tender no matter how much you stretch, foam roll or massage it. People most often come to us with:

  • Stiff neck and upper-trap pain from long days at a desk

  • Low back tightness that flares after sitting, lifting or running

  • Hip and glute pain, including pain that spreads down the leg

  • Knots around the shoulder blade that limit reaching overhead

  • Calf, shin and foot pain in runners and walkers

  • Tension headaches that start in the neck

It is not right for everyone. If you are pregnant, take blood thinners, have a bleeding disorder or simply dislike needles, tell us first and we will choose a different approach.

How dry needling works

A trigger point is a tight, tender band in a muscle that can send pain to other areas. Dry needling places a thin, solid needle into that spot. You may feel a quick twitch or a deep ache, and then the muscle lets go. "Dry" means nothing is injected: the needle itself is the treatment. It is different from acupuncture, which follows traditional meridians. Dry needling targets the specific muscles and tissues found on your exam.

Our dry needling process

  1. Assessment first. We find which muscles and joints are driving your pain, and check how you breathe, sit and move.

  2. Needling where it fits. Dr. Sharma needles only the trigger points your exam points to. Every needle is single-use and sterile.

  3. Hands-on care. Adjustments, soft tissue work or cupping when they help the same area.

  4. Exercise to keep it. You leave with a short routine so the muscle does not tighten straight back up.

Mild soreness for a day or two is normal, a lot like the day after a hard workout.

Cost of dry needling in Chicago

We don't post one flat price, because the cost depends on a few things:

  • Whether dry needling is part of a full visit or a shorter follow-up

  • How many areas need treatment

  • Whether you book single visits or one of our 8- or 12-week programs

  • What your insurance plan covers for the visit

Call (773) 906-4280 and we will give you a clear number before you book.

Dry needling questions

Does dry needling hurt?

Most people feel a small pinch as the needle goes in, then a deep ache or a twitch in the muscle. It passes quickly. We go at your pace and stop whenever you ask.

How many sessions will I need?

Many people feel looser after the first visit. Pain that has been around for months usually needs a few sessions, together with exercise. We will tell you what to expect after your assessment.

Can I exercise after dry needling?

Light movement is fine and usually helps. Skip a hard workout on the treated area for the rest of the day.
